About
Marika Andrassi is a largely self-taught Québécois artist who has taken a variety of art courses here and there, in college (Cégep de St-Hyacinthe, Concordia University), at EBAMA (École des Beaux Arts de Montréal), Syn Studio, along with private lessons with various teachers and online classes as well.
Since 2020, Marika has focused her practice on developing technically as a painter, through an exploration of various techniques and mediums. In her original compositions, she has mixed various techniques in the same work, such as wet-on-wet, dry-brushing, airbrushing (in acrylic pieces), always with a strong attention to detail while seeking to transmit the emotionality of the scene.
Themes of nature and animals are recurrent in her work, and she loves doing animal portraits for clients, attempting to capture the animal’s personality and likeness with each brushstroke.
